3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive 460 is a heavy-duty two-component epoxy adhesive with a mixing ratio of 2:1 and a processing time of 60 minutes that reaches its working strength within approximately 4 hours. This product provides strong, durable adhesion to many surfaces.
3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive 460 offers excellent shear and peel strength as well as good impact resistance. This adhesive adheres to many surfaces, including ceramics, wood and certain plastics. When it comes to preparation and application, 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Epoxy Adhesive 460 is simple and easy to use. Simply mix the components at a 2:1 mixing ratio by volume and then apply the adhesive as directed to achieve a strong, durable bond. The components are easy to mix and with the 60-minute application time, users have time to make adjustments to bonding surfaces before a durable, long-lasting bond is achieved. For easier mixing and application, use 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ EPX™ Handguns with a Duo-Pak cartridge. Epoxy adhesives are formulated as liquid reactive polymers that enter into a chemical reaction when mixed. They then harden into a solid plastic material. Once the two components are mixed in the specified ratio, the curing process begins where you have a limited processing time in which to apply the adhesive and move the two surfaces into the desired position. This processing time ranges from a few minutes to 48 hours or longer. These structural adhesives offer high shear and peel strength, depending on the formula, and better resistance to heat and chemicals than other commonly used adhesives. In general, epoxy adhesives offer the highest overall strength and the best performance and resistance to high temperatures, solvents and outdoor weather conditions. Epoxy adhesives are commonly used in commercial and residential construction, aircraft and automotive industries, military applications, bicycle, boat, golf club, ski and snowboard assembly and many other applications; in virtually any application where high-strength adhesion combined with resistance to environmental conditions is required.
