The Scotch-Brite™ Clean & Strip XT Pro Extra Cut Disc features an alumina-based abrasive mineral that is incorporated into an open nylon web structure. Our discs are designed for removing heavy coatings, such as heavy rust, thick paint and corrosion, as well as blending and refining the bare metal underneath.

Our discs feature a combination of renewed fibre threads, resin and an alumina-based abrasive mineral to form a thick, open web.

The elastic nature of the fibres means that our discs can follow the contours of the workpiece with greater precision to achieve a larger contact area for faster material removal. They adapt to welds so that they can be sanded without being removed and they give access to hard-to-reach areas. Alumina is a very hard mineral, which offers a high cutting effect. It is often used in high-pressure applications such as cutting and removing welds, it works intensively in removing heavy rust, thick paint and corrosion without leaving hollows and at the same time it ensures the preparation of the base material underneath. This means that users can remove a coating from the workpiece to prepare it for welding or gluing operations with the same disc. This saves the time that would otherwise be required for changing abrasives. In addition, the abrasive can escape through holes in the web, so that the abrasive material is less likely to clog.

The disc's reinforcing resin is gradually broken down with use to release new fibres and super-sharp alumina-based abrasives, ensuring consistent cutting action over the life of the disc. The high-quality fibres are resistant to chipping and offer little vibration, work at high speed and have a long service life.
