Sanding discs

Buy your sanding discs from 3M, Klingspor, VSM and Deerfos at Metaaltechniek.

If required, we will be happy to advise you on the choice of your sanding discs. Because at Metaaltechniek you can choose from several quality brands. Which disc is best for you, we cannot answer that directly. Important questions when choosing your sanding disc are:
- What is the application, the material to be machined, sharp edges or corners?
- Hard to reach places
- Desired finish
- The machine you will use

In addition to many different qualities, most sanding discs are available in multiple diameters, such as 75 mm, 115 mm, 125 mm, 150 mm, 200 mm. Also in the hole pattern (or punch shape) you often have multiple choices. From "no-holes" to "multi-holes" and everything in between, the possibilities are many.

We can distinguish sanding discs differentiate by grit type or by attachment type.

Grain Type:
1. Aluminum oxide grain: this abrasive disc can be used on tough materials such as steel 37, steel alloys and bronze. This grit is often used for deburring and finishing metals. 2. The ceramic grit is a variation of the alumina grit. However, this grain is sharper and harder than other grains. At lower or medium load, this abrasive disc remains sharp longer and will chip a lot of chipping material. Use this disc on hard abrasive materials.
3. Zirconia grain is the most common abrasive grain: Sanding discs equipped with this grit are used for heavier work on steel and cast iron. But also on stainless steel, aluminum and various non-ferrous metals does this sanding disc performs excellently. The self-sharpening properties of Zirconium come out best with higher pressure.
4. Silicon carbide: this is a very hard and sharp grain, which requires little pressure to break out. Sanding discs equipped with this grit are especially suitable for grinding non-ferrous metals such as aluminum and bronze and other relatively softer materials.

We distinguish three types sanding discs by attachment:

1. Hookit sanding discs are sanding discs that are attached to a backing pad by means of Velcro. This version is also called the hookit sanding disc.
2. Then there are the stikit abrasive discs, which, by means of an adhesive layer is adhered to a backing pad.
3. A separate category of abrasive discs involves the Scotch-Brite Surface Conditioning Disc. These sanding discs are specially designed to remove sanding scratches in one step. Because the disc is equipped with a shaft hole, this sanding disc is always centered attached.

If you are not sure which quality or type of sanding disc is the best for you, please let our sales team information from our sales department. If necessary they will ask the representative to visit you to test together with you which sanding disc works best for you.
