What is insulating tape?
Insulating tape is a tape used to insulate electricity and prevent unwanted currents. The advantage of insulating tape is that, unlike other types of tape, it does not conduct electricity. The tape can be easily stuck around a conductor. Not only does the tape have an insulating effect, it is also used to mark cables or fuses that should not be turned on, protect edges, secure cable sheaths, and prevent damage.
Using insulating tape
Insulating tape does not conduct electrical current and, as indicated earlier, can be used to bundle electrical wires. This allows you to recognize at a glance which wire belongs to which one. Ordinary types of tape are simply not suitable for insulating electrical cables due to fire hazards, among other reasons. Every home has several appliances and electrical cables. Think of speaker cables and TV cables. Electrical currents need to be protected and insulated, both for high voltage and low voltage cables. This is where insulating tape comes in handy. In addition, this tape offers the right protection. After all, the more meters of cable you have, the greater the chance of cable failure. With insulating tape you not only protect the sheath, you can also use it to easily repair a damaged cable sheath.
In short, insulating tape is suitable for: bundling cables, insulating electrical cables, protecting edges, marking objects and cables. Are the cable and its rubber sheath damaged? Then pay attention. If the wires are exposed, you absolutely must not use insulating tape. This is because the mechanical stability is insufficient if the wires are exposed. In this case, use a heat shrink tubing or replace the cable.
